Fat Finger or Infection?

What do you think might be happening? What would be a good treatment plan?

This patient presented with an infection due to Staphylococcus into the hangnail referred to as a paronychia. It usually occurs on one side of the nail bed but may surround the nail plate. Acute paronychia is treated with warm soaks, oral antibiotics, and rest. Surgery is indicated for extensive infections
